Yarn Bases I Often Use:
(all of these are next-to-the-skin soft)
Basic Sock: (75% superwash merino wool, 25% nylon) A good, sturdy fingering-weight sock yarn that wears well.
Shortcake: (100% superwash merino wool) Spun right here in the USA, this fingering-weight sock yarn is the springiest of the lot. The wool is very crimpy while maintaining softness and has a nice memory.
Luscious: (80% superwash merino wool, 20% nylon) This yarn is for the lovers of 2-ply fingering-weight sock yarns. It has a gorgeous sheen, takes up dye colors vividly, and is tightly-spun for durability.
Sockolate Mousse: (80% superwash merino wool, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon) A luxurious fingering-weight sock yarn for those picky tootsies that refuse to accept anything but the softest of yarns; this yarn has merino for structure and memory, nylon for durability, and a touch of cashmere for softness without sacrificing wearability.
Sport Sock: (75% superwash merino wool, 25% nylon) For sock knitters who like a thicker sock or just want to finish fast, this sport-weight yarn has the same softness and durability of the Basic Sock base, but it’s a sport weight yarn for thicker, quicker socks.
Merino Worsted: (100% superwash merino wool) A soft, springy worsted-weight yarn with good memory and a soft touch.
Merino Bulky: (100% superwash merino wool) A soft, springy bulky-weight yarn with good memory and a soft touch.
