Adding an Etsy Mini to a WordPress Sidebar

The first thing I need to say is that if you are using a free WordPress blog hosted by WordPress, this will not work. WordPress does not allow scripts to run on the blogs they host. These instructions are for those using their own web space to host WordPress blogs.

This tutorial is based on WordPress version 2.7.1, and all screenshots are from that version.

Adding an Etsy mini to your WordPress sidebar is relatively simple in 2.7.1 (the most recent version as of this writing). There are two ways you can do your sidebar: widgetized or hand-coded. This tutorial covers both. My host allows use of JavaScript, and I find that it works well with the WordPress templates. If you have problems using the JavaScript code, you may want to contact your host.

To be clear, we are using the JavaScript code, not the Flash code:

Using WordPress, the first thing you see when you log in is your Dashboard.

On the left side of the Dashboard is the sidebar with all of your options. All of the editing we do is going to be under the Appearances tab.
